How it works
Structure names changed four times on Java and once on Bedrock, which is why a copied /locate often says "unknown structure". Choose the structure here and the generator writes the name that version reads, or tells you the version doesn't have it.
Java 1.19 and later
locate structure #minecraft:village locate structure ancient_city locate biome cherry_grove
Villages, mineshafts, ocean ruins, shipwrecks and ruined portals have several variants, so they are written as tags.
Java 1.16 to 1.18.2
locate endcity locatebiome jungle
Java 1.11 to 1.15
locate EndCity locate Desert_Pyramid
Names are case-sensitive. On 1.11 and 1.12, pyramids, swamp huts and igloos are all found as Temple.
Bedrock
locate structure ocean_ruins true locate biome cherry_grove locate buriedtreasure
Bedrock 1.19.10 added locate structure and locate biome; true only searches chunks that haven't been generated yet. Older Bedrock uses one word per structure.
FAQ
How do I find a village with commands?
On Java 1.19+ use locate structure #minecraft:village; on Bedrock use locate structure village. The game prints the coordinates, and on Java you can click them to teleport.
Why does /locate say the structure is unknown?
The name changed between versions: EndCity (1.11–1.15), endcity (1.16–1.18) and end_city (1.19+). Pick your version here and the generator writes the name it reads.
Can I locate a biome?
Yes: locatebiome on Java 1.16 to 1.18.2, locate biome on Java 1.19+ and on Bedrock 1.19.10+.
Why are the coordinates missing a Y level?
Structures are found by chunk, so Java prints ~ for the height. Biomes come with a Y level because biomes are 3D since 1.18.
Can Bedrock find igloos or swamp huts?
No — Bedrock's /locate has no entry for them. Desert and jungle temples are found together as temple.
