How it works
/camera is Bedrock only. It came out of experiments in 1.20.30 (before that it needed the Experimental Cameras toggle). A typical cutscene shot is two commands run in the same tick: a fade to hide the cut, then the camera move.
camera @a fade time 0.5 0.3 1 camera @a set minecraft:free ease 3 in_out_sine pos ~ ~10 ~-12 facing @s
Fade
fade time <in> <hold> <out> takes seconds (0 to 10 each). Add color <r> <g> <b> with values from 0 to 255 for anything other than black.
Presets and what each accepts
minecraft:free: the only preset that takespos, facing, defaultandease. You can combine a position with either facing or a rotation, not both, and easing needs something to move to.minecraft:follow_orbit(1.21.40+): third person withrot,view_offset <x> <y>andentity_offset <x> <y> <z>.first_person,third_person,third_person_front, andfixed_boom(1.21.70+) are set as they are.
Newer options
camera @a fov_set 90 2 out_cubic camera @a target_entity @e[type=pig,c=1] camera @a attach_to_entity @e[type=minecart,c=1]
fov_set and fov_clear need 1.21.111, target_entity needs 1.21.60 and attach_to_entity needs 26.10. On an older version the generator leaves them out and tells you. Run camera @a clear to give players their normal view back.
FAQ
Does /camera work on Java Edition?
No. /camera is Bedrock only. Java has no camera command; Java cutscenes usually teleport the player in spectator mode with /tp or /spectate.
Why does my camera command say the syntax is wrong?
Most options only work with one preset: pos, facing, default and ease only with minecraft:free, and view_offset and entity_offset only with minecraft:follow_orbit. You also can't use rot and facing together. The generator only writes combinations the game accepts.
How do I make the camera move smoothly?
Use the free preset with ease <seconds> <type>, for example ease 3 in_out_sine pos ~ ~10 ~-12. The preview plays the move with the curve you pick, so you can compare linear, in_out_sine, out_bounce and the rest.
How do I get my normal view back?
Run camera @s clear (or @a for everyone).
What do the fade numbers mean?
fade time 0.5 1 0.5 fades to the colour over 0.5 seconds, holds for 1 second and fades back over 0.5 seconds. Each value can be 0 to 10.
