/time Command Generator

Beta

Pick a time or a number of ticks and watch the sun and moon swing round to it. The generator writes the right form for your version, including Java 26.1 world clocks.

How it works

A Minecraft day is 24,000 ticks (20 minutes). Tick 0 is 6:00 in the morning, 6000 is noon, 12000 is sunset, 18000 is midnight. The names day (1000), noon (6000), night (13000) and midnight (18000) work on Java 1.13 and later; Java 1.12 and older only know day and night, so the generator writes the number instead. Bedrock also has sunrise (23000) and sunset (12000).

time set noon
time set 18000
time add 24000
time query daytime

Java 26.1 world clocks

Java 26.1 runs /time on world clocks. You can name a clock, pause it, resume it and change its speed. A named time moves the clock forward to the next time it comes round, and query time returns the clock's total ticks (time of day is that number mod 24000):

time set midnight
time pause
time of minecraft:overworld rate 2
time query time

Bedrock

time set sunrise
time add 1000
time query day

On Bedrock a named time also moves forward to the next match, so the day counter goes up; a number sets the time directly.

FAQ

What time is day in Minecraft ticks?

time set day is 1000 (7:00). Noon is 6000, sunset 12000, night 13000, midnight 18000 and sunrise 23000. A full day is 24,000 ticks, 20 real minutes.

How do I stop time in Minecraft?

Turn the day cycle off with /gamerule doDaylightCycle false (advance_time from Java 1.21.11, dodaylightcycle on Bedrock). On Java 26.1 and later, /time pause does it too.

How do I skip several days?

Use time add with 24000 per day, for example time add 72000 for three days. time set with a number resets the day counter, so use add when the day number matters.

What is the difference between daytime and gametime?

daytime is the time of the day cycle (0 to 23999). gametime is how many ticks the world has existed, and /time never changes it.

Why can't I use time set noon?

noon and midnight came in Java 1.13. On older Java write time set 6000 or time set 18000; the generator does that for you.
